This is a collection of the best two 45 length singles (under 5 min or thereabouts) from each LP. I am a great lover of the recordings and songwriting of Ray Davies and The Kinks. Props to Dave Davies too. Do get along lads...Ray had a period in the mid-to late 60s where he mainly focused on 45 releases. She's got everything, house in the country, king kong, big black smoke, dead end street...Pure fun in under 4 minutes. The opposite end of the navel gazing, lotus eating eternity of the extended jam.
I also can indulge an aptitude for longer, more exploratory sonic textures, wider narratives, letting the amps breathe, swimming in rippling pools of feedback.
As a rule, I usually go where the song takes me, long or short. Because one must eventually turn the exercise to practice, no matter how grand, or how simple.
Pop a coin in the slot. These are the singles...
